The Millau Viaduct

Millau_bridge_1

Here’s another amazing example of civil engineering. Supported by seven piers and over 1.5 miles long, the Millau Viaduct is the highest bridge in the world (just under 800’ / 240m). Located in southern France, the viaduct connects the motorway from Paris to Barcelona at the point where the River Tarn (which runs through a wide gorge between two plateaus) interrupts it.

This just in from Pedro in Spain . . . a very cool slide show showing a time-lapse view of the construction of the viaduct. Muchas Gracias Pedro! Download viaducmillau.pps
